What are the benefits of practicing yoga during pregnancy?

The breathing techniques, postures, and mindfulness of a yoga practice are tools that can help build ease, strength, flexibility, and calm awareness in preparation for childbirth. Equally as important, the yoga postures help you feel more comfortable and relaxed in your changing body. By taking the time to cultivate a stronger mind-body-breath connection during pregnancy, you may experience your pregnancy more fully, deeply, and with more clarity. Additionally, in the last couple of months or weeks of pregnancy, when some of your basic activities can start to become difficult or uncomfortable, coming to class is a way of easing some of the tensions and strains you may be experiencing in the latter part of pregnancy.

What to expect from the prenatal classes at Boundless

An intimate, fun, relaxed class with tons of hands-on adjustments! We make use of props such as blankets, bolsters, straps, blocks, and chairs for additional support in many poses. Erin will assist you in setting up your props depending on your experience level and how far along you are. At the beginning of class, there’s  a sharing circle where you can feel safe and supported to share what’s going on with you that week and hear how your fellow students are feeling as well. Most importantly, whether you are new to yoga or an experienced practitioner, you will learn what’s safe for you to do at the various stages of your pregnancy. You’ll learn which poses can help with specific issues, strains, and pains, and which poses you need to either modify or stay away from completely. Pregnancy brings with it a whole host of questions - and there’s always time and space to ask them in, before, and after class.
