jan 7 – feb 25, 3-4:30 pm, $150

restorative yoga is designed to relax the physical body (muscles and joints) and nervous system (anxiety and depression). it is also a very important practice for winter, allowing your body to “hibernate” once a week as you listen to the soothing voice of the instructor and your own inner wisdom.

this eight-week session will leave you feeling refreshed: rejuvenated; clearer; and lighter in the body, mind, and spirit.

january 13 – february 24, 3- 4:30 (saturday afternoons)

learning to breath appropriately is the fundamental practice underlying the science of yoga. as we deepen our asana (pose), the examination of the breath becomes more important.

this seven week series will teach you to look at breathing with the same way you consider watering a plant: slowly, delicately and deeply in order to reach all the roots. specifically you will learn: a) the difference between the belly and the chest, b) how to even out the inhale and exhale, c) how to extend the exhale which maximizes relaxation, health and longevity.

join this discussion forum to understand the philisophical basis of the 4,000 year old system of yoga. whether you approach classic yoga scriptures like the bhagavad gita and patanjali’s yoga sutras as a spiritual or intellectual pursuit (or both!), having a foundation for discussion on subjects like letting go of selfish attachments and changes in the seasons will give you more information on the yogic system. join the discussion as a first step of inquiry into the ancient literatures and how they inform us about our modern world and our own lives.
