The Yoga of Yoga Business

Dear Boundless Family,

Boundless Yoga is, at its heart, a community of devoted students and teachers. We are more than the studio in which we practice.

When we chose our current location we had great hopes. It was a few blocks from our old studio and closer to a metro. Hopes have run headlong into hard reality. For the rent we are paying, the space is inadequate. All our prime time classes are overcrowded. To keep our prices competitive, we are cutting our revenues below our costs. If we try to stay in this location at the present rent, we will not survive.

We are alerting you to this situation because we need your help.  Our current landlords are being asked to reduce the rent and we are also actively looking at a new space that is better suited to our needs. If our current landlord reduces the rent, we will stay. If not, we will continue on in the new space.

We need your help. You can help by keeping an eye out for open storefront spaces for lease. There are lots of small spaces under the radar and hard to find out about. If you see one that looks bigger than Studio A, take down the number and pass it to GM Erin McCarley.

You can also help by bringing us new students. Moving costs money and we have run out of it. We don’t know if it was the sequester, but the bottom dropped out of sales in April. We need sales. Grab friends and tell them it’s time to come to yoga class with you.

Lastly, while we are not officially a not-for-profit, Boundless Yoga has been barely breaking even for years. Think of what it would mean to us all if we had no studio of our own and had to go back to meeting in borrowed space. We will if we have to, but that is not what we want.

This is a hard thing to ask, but I’m reaching out for help and asking for contributions. We can’t raise our prices in the present market, so I’m hoping that those of you who know how valuable the teaching at Boundless is will voluntarily pay a bit more on top of the published price.  Please click here to support a vital and vibrant Boundless Yoga.

It is also worth accessing universal energy by writing here that we would love to use this move to recapitalize. We looked at a budget for moving and marketing and would like to raise $20,000. If you would like to put your money where your heart is, we would like to work with you to earn that investment.

I speak for all Boundless teachers when I say that every class is a joy, a challenge, and an act of love devoted to the committed, intelligent, and heart-centered people who come to Boundless to learn yoga.

There will be no interruption in the class schedule. Please check boundlessyoga.com/blog and look for further updates from me.

Yours in yoga,
