Pursuing a calling to help others, Valerie began a career in social work, but found herself holding onto the pain of the clients she saw. She quickly realized that this was not sustainable or healthy. She began her yoga practice 8 years ago in an effort to learn to ground, let go, and find freedom and joy in her body, which she believes is her greatest teacher. Valerie’s intention for her classes is to help students connect to their physical, emotional and energetic body and find balance. Valerie aspires to help students find their own path for their practice, with the hope that self-adjustment becomes a natural part of their lives.
Valerie is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and therapist at a community mental health agency in Washington, DC. She received her 200-hour level teacher training at Boundless Yoga in 2007. Her hope is that this powerful practice of yoga will begin to soften the hearts of her students and bring more love and compassion into the world.
