Reading Harry/Seeing Bodies

I love reading about Harry’s recollection of his first Seeing Bodies
experience. And I love it even more knowing what has happened for
Harry since that experience.

As a Boundless advanced student as well as a teacher, I know that our
job is to help create the space for the type of transformation Harry
describes — of course within our bodies but also within our minds and
hearts. Seeing Bodies is an important first step on that path of
transformation. As an instructor, it is so helpful to have a
one-on-one opportunity to work with a student and gain a deeper
understanding of how their particular body moves. But the most
important information Seeing Bodies provides is the information it
provides you. Knowing more deeply how your body works and ways your
practice can help support you is priceless.

I recently had the opportunity to see a print out of every yoga class
I had taken at Boundless — ever. My first class was the day after the
fourth of July. I was utterly miserable in my life in a way I couldn’t
really explain, except to know that I was tired of feeling that way. I
had been a workaholic for years and by my early 30s I was already
burning out. I could barely keep up in that first class, but something
kept me coming back for more, and, over time, I started to feel better
– and think better — in really important ways. Yoga has given me the
skills to have a little more control and understanding over the way I
feel and my body’s response to stress. I know if I take a yoga class
at Boundless, I’ll finish feeling better than I did before I started.
Always.

At Boundless, we see you not just as a body, but as a person. Seeing
Bodies is the first step of the journey that we hope will grow into a
regular, ever-deepening practice. All of us only have one body to
carry us through this lifetime. We need to care, nurture, heal, and
develop it in safe and challenging ways. Boundless creates the space
for that transformation.

I hope every Boundless Student, new or old, will take advantage of
Seeing Bodies opportunities and find out what a difference practicing
yoga at Boundless makes.

  1. Yes! The vision behind “Seeing Bodies” is special in a “we have a hammer, you must be a nail” kind of world. It’s good to BE SEEN in many ways: to deepen your unique practice & gain insight into your body AND to show up & share where you are ‘at’ authentically in a caring community. Day by day, transforming, you need the people around you to ‘see’ how far you have grown…we often don’t notice ourselves, except perhaps at rare reflective moments looking at print-outs (geez that’s funny :)
